IT Services Specialist – Red Deer

Digitex Canada Inc. is looking for an experienced, outgoing person with exceptional customer service, computer knowledge and multiple software platform experience. This position demands attention to detail, time management, extraordinary customer service skills and teamwork. Digitex is an industry leader and one of Canada’s largest independent providing excellent customer service to various product lines and services. The qualified candidate would need to exemplify the “Digitex Difference” in this competitive and fast paced field.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols, as well setup and testing of VPN connections.
  • Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Provide desktop level support maintaining all software needs including upgrades, migrations, patches and security related issues.
  • Maintain and update documentation and passwords as necessary for customers and inventory purposes.
  • Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.

  • Maintain system efficiency.
  • Ensure design of system allows all components to work properly together.
  • Troubleshoot problems reported by users.
  • Make recommendations for future upgrades.
  • Maintain network and system security.
  • Analyze and isolate issues.

  • Evaluate and modify system's performance.
  • Identify user needs.
  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.
  • Ensure network connectivity throughout a company's LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCES:

  • Resides in the Red Deer area.
  • Excellent work ethic and exudes professionalism.
  • Self-starter and can work independently.
  • Active listening skills and problem solving abilities to effectively qualify solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Ability to respond promptly to needs and concerns of all customers.
  • Planning, organizational and scheduling skills to ensure the achievement assigned tasks.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
  • IT Support or industry experience preferred – 2-year minimum.
  • Network + (N+) Certification.
  • Apple (MAC) experience an asset.

BENEFITS / WAGES:

  • Full time
  • Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm.
